This event was implemented by the local partners of the project – NGO “Atina”. It was a
workshop called: “Forms of Gender-Based Violence and Women’s Rights”. All workshop
participants were female. The specificity of this workshop was that, for the first time, a workshop
within the MILAGRO project was held in the Asylum Center in Krnjača, in the suburbs of
Belgrade. The lecturer was a woman with extensive experience in this field from the
Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia, with whom NGO “Atina”
has been cooperating for a long time. This was what meant the most – according to the oral
statements – to the workshop participants. In the first part of the workshop, the participants –
consisting of the migrant representatives, were educated about different forms of violence
against women and experiences from the work of the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration
itself. Then, the workshop was held, with full involvement from all attendees. This received a
very favorable response from everyone, and some very interesting insights. Of course,
experiences from the practice of the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration were shared and
certain answers were suggested to specific questions of the participants at the end of the
workshop.
NOTE: As one woman from Iraq (wearing a headscarf in the photos) did not consent to having
her face shown, she was consistently photographed from the back.
