This event was implemented by the University Library, because it was a part of the library’s regular activities. It was a workshop called: “Digital Literacy”. The lecturer was Dragana Stolić, PhD – who has extensive experience in working with users. The workshop was conducted in the electronic classroom of the University Library, where all participants had their own computer. Since the participants lacked basic digital literacy skills, as identified at the start of the workshop, they were first introduced to the importance of digital literacy. Given the context, the need for cautious use of digital tools was emphasized. Following this, they were guided through specific tasks, including creating an email account, using email, and utilizing the Google search engine. The participants independently created their Google accounts and email addresses, and most of them sent their first emails. Also, the workshop was conducted in cooperation with local partners of the NGO “Atina”, which works with migrants. Since some participants came with their families, the children were taken care of by the representatives of the NGO “Atina” during the workshop, in a special part of the library. Several participants did not speak English well enough, so colleagues from the NGO “Atina” also helped with translation. Fortunately, the lecturer knew French, which several workshop participants spoke. By the end of the workshop, the participants expressed a strong desire to continue with this type of training, noting its significance to them. They also said that they would like the next one to be dedicated to Word and Excel. At the end of the workshop, which lasted almost two hours, the participants refreshed themselves with coffee and juices. Although not initially planned, the University Library will discuss the possibility of continuing this workshop with its local partners, as the interest in the content was obvious.
