The meeting was held at NACU’s seat, with the participation of members of the migrant community, Sienese citizens and American university students that attend classes at SIS Intercultural Study Abroad, project’s associated partner. During the meeting, several key aspects regarding the Territorial Commission were discussed. The participants examined the legal foundations of international protection, focusing on the Geneva Convention, and provided an overview of the asylum-seeking process. They also outlined the specific steps necessary for obtaining international protection and explored the different types of protections available under the law.

Francis Mathew Mganga, who works as an operator for refugees and is an expert in immigration and human rights law, contributed significantly to the discussion. He shared his expertise on human rights and policies in Europe. Mganga is also deeply involved in local integration projects and is a co-founder of the “Home 4 the World” initiative at SIS, aimed at supporting refugee integration.
