The Observatory Launch Final Event was organized at the University Library in Belgrade, within
the Winter Forum of the Library Association of Serbia. The local project management
considered it necessary to use the opportunity provided by the conference so that as many people
as possible could be present for the presentation of all the details about the Observatory website
within the MILAGRO project. The Observatory was presented by the Director of the University
Library, Professor Aleksandar Jerkov, the Local Project Coordinator Vasilije Milnović, PhD, and
all the details were presented to the audience by the Local Event Manager Dragana Stolić, PhD.
Also, she was in charge of the details of the Observatory website. On this occasion, the various
possibilities of the Observatory website, its details, the different types of data that can be found
when it comes to Serbia, together with examples from Italy and the Netherlands, were presented.
The sections People and Stories and Art and Literature were presented in particular, and the
audience was particularly interested in the data that was collected. Also, the significant role of
students from the Utrecht Internship was explained, as well as the role of student volunteers who
have participated in collecting data for the Observatory website.
In addition to the Observatory itself, other results of the MILAGRO project to date were also
briefly presented. The audience was made up of fellow librarians, but also local stakeholders and
representatives of various associations, with the greatest emphasis on the position of an academic
library in the context of this entire project and the Observatory itself.
At the end of the presentation, numerous questions from the audience followed, and the greatest
interest was related to the method of data collection and the position of the academic library in
the context of the MILAGRO ecosystem. Also, the excellent cooperation that the library has
achieved with local partners in Serbia was repeatedly highlighted, as it is obvious that the library
is an ideal hub for the collection of this type of data, due to its excellent networking with various
legal entities on the territory of Serbia.
Finally, all participants were invited to the Final Local Event, which will also be organized at the
University Library in early May.
After the presentation, a small cocktail party followed for all those present, where the details of
the MILAGRO project continued to be discussed in a lively dialogue.
